Rekha Chaudhary, MD, a hematologist and oncologist who specializes in the treatment of melanoma at the University of Cincinnati, explains some of the important criteria that make a
melanoma patient eligible for
tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy. Patients need a tumor large enough and accessible enough to
biopsy for TIL therapy. They also need to be
healthy enough to undergo the chemotherapy, or lymphodepletion, as well as the IL-2 infusions to receive the TIL therapy.
